The Hermosa Review is your new local news source
We are excited to announce the launch of The Hermosa Review, a brand new community news source focused 100% on Hermosa Beach.
The original newspaper of our city was The Hermosa Beach Review, first published in 1907. It’s been gone for almost half a century, and since then the world of local news has changed profoundly.

Our aim with the Review is to create something new and different here in Hermosa. A local news site that is 100% focused on our best little beach city, with significant contribution from the community itself. Citizen journalism that goes beyond the soundbites of social media, enabling a deeper conversation about the issues that impact our city. We intend to be fact-based and objective, and will try to use simple summaries, graphics, photos and video to break these issues down.
This is an experiment. We aren't charging for subscription, we aren't being paid, and we don't accept advertisements. In the end, you can decide what we feature and whether The Hermosa Review grows into something significant.
If you'd like to get involved as a contributor, we'd love to hear from you. You don't have to be a professional journalist. Maybe you know a local foodie who would like to write a restaurant review, or a student who could write high school sports reports. Perhaps you would like to contribute an opinion piece or a feature on a local subject close to your heart.
We also want to write columns that pay tribute to the people, places and culture that have defined our unique history. If you have an idea for a story, please get in touch.
We'll help you to polish your thoughts and get them out there to the community. Drop us an email, and help us to shape the Review into a true community effort.
