NEW : Police make arrests in 'e-bike assault' case

Hermosa Beach Police announced the arrests of two juveniles in connection with an assault that occurred near Pier Plaza at 11th Court last Friday (21st November).

The incident, of which a series of shocking video footage had been widely circulated, made both local and national news channels in the last few days. A community update that was issued by police yesterday caused a flurry of speculation with regard to the investigation.

Today HBPD issued a further statement in which they confirmed that five juveniles between the ages of 13-15 years have been identified. Two have been arrested and booked into custody at the HBPD Jail from where they will be transported to Juvenile Hall. The police statement says that they have been identified as 'primary aggressors'

The full statement reads as follows :

Case update regarding assault that occurred on Friday Nov 21, 2025.

This past Friday at approximately 8pm, a 56-year-old male resident was assaulted by several juveniles near 11th Court and Beach Drive.

Your Hermosa Beach Police Department takes this violent crime and all crime very seriously. We understand the concerns of the community and have been working nonstop to identify those involved and bring them to justice. Your HBPD has been fielding phone calls, e-mails and processing videos obtained from various sources.

As of today, Nov. 26, 2025, we have identified five juveniles involved, all between the ages of 13-15 and have arrested two of the juveniles identified as primary aggressors in this case. They were booked at the HBPD Jail and will be transported to Juvenile Hall.

We are in communication with the parents of the remaining juveniles and are preparing a thorough case we will present to the prosecutors office. We know the videos circulating are disturbing. As with all cases, we take this seriously and appreciate the community’s patience while we continue to work on this case. We sincerely thank those who have trusted the process and allowed our team to remain focused on the facts and evidence.
