Hermosa Beach Police arrested two juveniles Thursday morning following an armed robbery and assault near Pier Plaza and The Strand.
The incident occurred at approximately 11 a.m. on September 18, when an elderly man was assaulted by two suspects who brandished what appeared to be a firearm before fleeing toward the downtown parking lots, according to witness accounts and a police department press release.
Officers responded within one minute of receiving the 911 call. Detectives immediately utilized recently installed downtown surveillance cameras and deployed the department's drone to track the suspects' movements, enabling a swift and coordinated response.
Both suspects were apprehended without incident at 11:07 a.m. inside a restaurant on the 1100 block of Hermosa Avenue—just ten minutes after the initial emergency call. A replica firearm resembling a real weapon was recovered from a waste bin in the restroom at Paisano's Pizza & Pasta.
Police revealed that one suspect had an outstanding warrant from another jurisdiction for assault with a deadly weapon..
